In Akita Prefecture, it has been snowing mainly in the south since December 30, and in Yuzawa City, where the weather station observation point is located, the snowfall at 5 pm is 1 meter 39 cm, which is more than four times the normal.



In response to this situation, Yuzawa City and Ugo Town, which is adjacent to Yuzawa City, said on the morning of the 6th that it was necessary to urgently remove the snow from houses such as elderly households that might collapse, and Yokote City on the 5th. Following that, the prefecture was requested to dispatch the Self-Defense Forces, and in response to this, Akita Prefecture requested the Ground Self-Defense Force to dispatch a disaster.



According to the prefecture, the Ground Self-Defense Force Akita station will start work from the 7th at the earliest.



On the other hand, in Yokote City, members of the Ground Self-Defense Force have been engaged in snow removal and snow removal activities at elementary schools in wooden school buildings since the 6th, and the Self-Defense Forces will continue to work on the 7th.
