A search by police and fire departments found that Hiroyuki Shitara (60), who lives in Funagata Town, had collapsed in a state of cardiopulmonary arrest in a river flowing under the eaves after 1:00 pm.

In Shinjo City, a 69-year-old worker stepped into the snow to remove the snow from the roof of a house, fell into a irrigation canal, and suffered a serious injury that broke his neck. In Murayama City, he was 79 years old. A man was hit by snow falling from the roof while removing snow from a warehouse, causing a serious injury that broke his leg.



Yamagata Prefecture and the police are calling for two or more people to wear a lifeline and helmet when removing snow due to a series of accidents during snow removal work.
