Congestion status of evacuation shelters Stay in 3 cities At 20:32 on October 2 in the cities, wards, towns and villages in Tokyo

According to a survey by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, only three of the wards, cities, towns and villages in Tokyo can inform the residents of the congestion status of evacuation centers opened during typhoons and heavy rains.

When Typhoon No. 10 approached Kyushu and other areas in September, it became impossible to accept new evacuation centers in various places where the capacity was reduced due to measures against the new coronavirus.

In response to this, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government investigated whether all 62 wards, cities, towns and villages in Tokyo have a system to inform the residents of the congestion status of evacuation centers.

As a result, only three cities, ▽ Chofu City, ▽ Hino City, and ▽ Tama City, answered that they could grasp the congestion situation and inform the residents on the website.

Some local governments answered that they would consider disseminating information in the future, but the Tokyo Metropolitan Government believes that most local governments are not keeping up with the system development.

In the future, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government plans to take measures such as having the wards, cities, towns and villages send out congestion information on evacuation centers by utilizing the "L Alert" system that simultaneously conveys evacuation information on TV and the Internet.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government says, "As a countermeasure against the new coronavirus, we would like to work with the municipalities to avoid the three evacuation centers and ensure the safety of the residents."
