Typhoon No. 10 Residents evacuated from remote islands in Kagoshima to return to home from the night of September 8 19:42 on September 8

In preparation for Typhoon No. 10, residents who have evacuated from the remote island of Toshima Village in Kagoshima Prefecture to the outside of the island are scheduled to return to the island from the evening of the 8th.

Residents complained that they were angry and worried about the damage caused by the typhoon.

To prepare for Typhoon No.10, Toshima Village has evacuated approximately 200 people who wish to evacuate to Kagoshima City from the September 4th by means of the SDF helicopter.



This is the first time that Toshima Village has evacuated residents to the outside of the island in preparation for a typhoon, and the evacuated residents will return to the island by liner from the evening of the 8th.



Of these, Yukio Hidaka (68), who evacuated from Hirashima with an 88-year-old aunt, said, “I thought that my aunt was dangerous, so I evacuated together. I'm relieved that I can go home now.” It was



Also, Toshinari Hidaka (73), who evacuated with his wife and spent at an evacuation center in Kagoshima City, said, “I was used to it, but I evacuated because it was too big a typhoon. I'm worried about what happened due to the typhoon."



According to Masakazu Ueda, Director of the Hirashima Branch of Toshima Village Office, typhoon No. 10 has caused damage to the island such as banyan trees falling down and the seawall at the port collapsed.
