The rainstorms in western Japan in search of missing people Hiroshima Kaitacho August 28, 12:41

Police and fire departments are searching for people whose whereabouts are unknown, such as in Kaita Town, Hiroshima Prefecture, which was damaged by the heavy rains in western Japan.

Due to the heavy rains in western Japan in July, 149 people died in Hiroshima Prefecture including disaster-related deaths, and the whereabouts of five people are still unknown.

The police, along with the fire department, have been searching for missing persons in the Seno River in Kaita Town and the Tenchi River in Saka Town with approximately 60 people since 10 am on the 28th.

In the Senogawa, two sisters of elementary school students in Aki Ward, Hiroshima City, fell up the river with the cars they were riding in the upper stream, and their whereabouts are still unknown. I was searching for clues by poking the bottom of the river with a stick and inserting an underwater drone equipped with a camera.

Tatsuya Hirose, Commander of the Hiroshima Prefectural Police Task Force, said, "We want to find new clues as the shape of the river's sediment removal process is changing and the shape is changing."
The search will continue until 1 pm.
