In a hot spring town in Hita City, Oita Prefecture, which was severely damaged by record heavy rain, a group of local volunteers cooked rice and delivered rice balls to the victims who were busy cleaning up.

In Amase-cho, Hita City, Oita Prefecture, the heavy rains flooded the Kusu River near the hot springs, flooding the inns and houses, and even now, two weeks later, the residents are still busy cleaning up.

Against this backdrop, groups such as tourists who are aiming to revitalize the hot spring town started cooking from this week.

In the morning of the 21st, seven members and others gathered in the building that was used as a nursery until this spring, and held rice balls for 150 people.

After that, we loaded the rice balls into the car and handed around the affected inns and houses one by one.

The group will make lunch rice balls and dinner lunches every day until the 2nd of next month, and deliver them to the victims in the town.

A woman whose home was flooded to the floor said, "I'm very grateful that the kitchen is not ready to cook because mud has entered."

Shinpei Kondo, representative of the "Amagase Onsen Future Creation Project" who cooked, said, "I want you to have a good meal and refresh yourself."
