Last year's Typhoon No. 15 Three people who died in Chiba Prefecture were certified as disaster related death June 29, 18:11

Three men and women in their 60s to 80s, who died of suspected heatstroke in Chiba prefecture, where power outages continued due to the effects of typhoon No. 15 last September, were certified as disaster-related deaths. The typhoon No. 15 has now confirmed the number of disaster-related deaths in the prefecture to five.

Three people were identified as disaster-related deaths: a 66-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman in Ichihara City, and an 82-year-old woman in Kimitsu City.

According to Chiba Prefecture, a 66-year-old man was found to have collapsed in his house on the evening of September 10, last year, the day after the typhoon landed, and died of heat stroke after being transferred to a hospital.

A 71-year-old woman died of subarachnoid hemorrhage due to heat stroke on the 12th, and an 82-year-old woman was admitted to a nursing home, but died on the suspicion of heat stroke on the 12th.

It is said that the air conditioner was not working at the home or facility where the three people were spending, because the power outage continued from the early morning of September 9th when the typhoon hit directly.

Administrative associations made by municipalities within the prefecture have determined that all deaths are related to disasters as a result of examination based on applications from each city.

Regarding the certification after more than 9 months from the death, the official of the office union explained, "It took time to confirm the causal relationship, and it was difficult to hold a meeting due to the influence of the new coronavirus."

The typhoon No. 15 has now certified five deaths related to disasters in the prefecture.

This means that the prefecture is also undergoing certification examinations for four people in their 50s to 80s.
