Western Japan Tomorrow could be extremely heavy rain Be alert for sediment-related disasters May 17 at 18:14

Due to the influence of front lines and low pressure, extremely heavy rainfall may occur locally in western Japan from the 18th, and the Japan Meteorological Agency is calling for caution in the future against sediment-related disasters.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, in addition to a tropical cyclone that has changed from a typhoon to Okinawa, the front that extends to western Japan will stagnate over 19 days, warm and moist air will flow in, and the atmosphere will become unstable.

For this reason, extremely heavy rain of 50 mm or more per hour may occur with local lightning over
▽ Okinawa on 18th and
▽ Kyushu and Shikoku in western Japan from 18th to 19th.

It is expected that the amount of rainfall in the 24 hours until the evening of the 18th will
be 150 mm in
Okinawa , 120 mm in the northern and southern parts of
Kyushu, and in the 24 hours from the evening of 18th 50 to 100 mm of rain can cause heavy rainfall.

Also, in
Eastern Japan such as Tokai, atmospheric conditions are expected to become unstable from the night of the 18th to the 19th.

Since the 18th, the Japan Meteorological Agency has warned against sediment-related disasters, inundation of low-lying land and flooding of rivers, and has called for sufficient caution against gusts of lightning and tornadoes.
