Disconnected by Typhoon No. 19 Sanriku Railway Test run before partial resumption of tomorrow Jan. 15 at 12:52

Approximately half of the route was interrupted by the impact of typhoon 19 last year. A test run is underway to confirm.

The Sanriku Railway Rias Line, which runs along the coast of Iwate Prefecture, was damaged by the typhoon No. 19 in October last year and the ground of the track was leaked. Of these, approximately 17 kilometers of the section between Tsugaruishi Station in Miyako City and Rikunakayamada Station in Yamada Town has been restored, and operation will resume on the 16th.

Prior to this, a test run was conducted with commercial vehicles, and the train was running at the same speed as normal speed of about 80 km / h to confirm the safety of the track.

Junichi Konno, Operations Manager of Sanriku Railway, said, "We are working on the final confirmation work to resume operation of tomorrow. We would like to step by step toward restarting the entire line."

The Sanriku Railway Rias Line is expected to be fully restored on March 20.
