Hokuriku Shinkansen March to regular operation Typhoon No.19 damaged January 10 at 4:10

Regarding the Hokuriku Shinkansen, where the number of trains was reduced due to the impact of Typhoon No. 19, JR East has announced that it will operate with the same number of trains as before the disaster following the schedule revision in March.

The Hokuriku Shinkansen was destroyed by 120 vehicles in the Nagano Shinkansen Vehicle Center in Nagano City due to the typhoon No. 19 in October last year.

As a result, the number of trains has recovered to about 90% of that of ordinary vehicles due to the introduction of new vehicles, but the Asama connecting Tokyo and Nagano is still operated on a provisional train with one less round trip.

JR East has been working on the restoration of the rolling stock center, and has announced that it is now possible to operate the same number of regular trains as before the disaster following the schedule revision on March 14.

The specific schedule is scheduled to be announced on this month, and JR East has called for "check it on the timetable and website."

Regarding the Nagano Shinkansen Rolling Stock Center, JR East will take measures to prevent reoccurrence of important facilities such as substations and power supply facilities as a measure to prevent recurrence based on the hazard map that there is a risk of flooding more than 10 meters when the nearby river floods. It is a policy to carry out construction work.

Vehicle Center Policy to raise important facilities

According to JR East, the Hokuriku Shinkansen has two new trains, and it is expected that some of the vehicle centers that had become unusable after the disaster could be restored.

JR East has raised the rolling stock of important facilities, such as substations and power supply facilities, as a measure to prevent recurrence of the vehicle center based on a hazard map that may cause flooding of more than 10 meters when the nearby river floods. In addition to bolstering its policy, if flood damage is anticipated, measures will be taken to evacuate vehicles in advance.
