Do you often brush your teeth on autopilot? Then sloppiness is likely to creep in, with bad teeth as a possible consequence. These tips help you brush your teeth well.
Tip 1: Toothbrush
For a toothbrush, choose a brush with a small brush head. This makes it easier for you to brush your teeth and molars in the back and inside. In addition, do not use your brush for longer than 3 months or if you notice that the tufts of hair stand apart.
Electric brushing is of course also possible. This way you remove a little more plaque than with a manual toothbrush. And an electric toothbrush often has a built-in timer, so you can brush exactly 2 minutes.
Tip 2: Cleaning order
While brushing your teeth, try to keep a fixed order and make sure you always brush the inside, outside and top of all your teeth. The inside is often the most difficult, so it is best to start brushing.
Tip 3: The right technology
Dentists and dental hygienists advise you to brush off the gums so that you do not push a plaque into the gums.
The plaque disappears by gently moving the hairs of the toothbrush back and forth over the places where the plaque is. Hold the toothbrush at the end of the handle and between your thumb and finger tips. That way you don't press too hard, but not too soft.
Tip 4: Toothpaste
Brush your teeth 2 times a day for 2 minutes with a toothpaste containing fluoride, for example the elmex® toothpaste. Fluoride is a natural substance that makes the teeth and molars less vulnerable to acid attacks by bacteria. And this way you prevent holes.
Tip 5: Stokers, floss and ragers
No matter how well you brush, you will never completely get between all your teeth. Paste and bacteria unfortunately. This makes it important to use mouthwash, toothpicks, floss and / or brushes in addition to brushing your teeth. That way, you also get to the areas of your teeth that are difficult to keep clean.
You can best ask your dentist or dental hygienist what works best for you. They will also explain how to use stokers, floss and / or ragers. A mouthwash does not replace brushing, stoking and brushing.
