In the northern part of Kyushu, it was a record heavy rain in late August. Special rain warnings were issued to the prefectures of Saga, Fukuoka, and Nagasaki, flooding the river, and typhoon No. 15 that landed in the Kanto region early last month. First, four typhoons approaching and landing from mid-August to late last month also damaged farmland, waterways, and fishing facilities throughout the country.

Regarding these damages, the government decided to designate it as a “catastrophic disaster” on the 11th without specifying the region because the estimated cost of restoration exceeded the standard.

In the future, the national subsidy rate for local governments will be increased from 10% to 20%.

Also, in Taga City, Takeo City, Omachi Town, Saga Prefecture, and Konan Town, Chiba Prefecture, the estimated cost of restoration for civil engineering facilities and small and medium-sized enterprise buildings exceeded the standard. We also decided to designate it as “disaster”.

The government ordinance designated as a catastrophic disaster and a local catastrophe disaster will take effect on the 17th of this month.
