Lifeline is "Ice" at a blackout hospital Chiba Kamogawa September 17 20:06

“Ice” helped to protect patients at a hospital in Kamogawa City, Chiba, while air-conditioning facilities could not be used due to a power failure caused by Typhoon No. 15.

The Kamogawa City National Health Insurance Hospital compiled a note on how they responded immediately after the outage.

There are detailed descriptions of the patient's condition and the in-hospital during the power outage, but there are ice letters everywhere.

At that time, despite the severe heat, many patients complained of fever in the absence of air conditioning.

It was "ice" that helped me there. The ice is said to have been separated from a local ice company.

Director Hiromune Hayashi said, “If the air conditioner was not available, the patient would be serious if ice was not used. I think that ice was a lifeline.”

The hospital has already recovered electricity, but even now, when visiting the homes of elderly people in blackout areas with home-visit nursing services, ice is distributed along with food.

The residents said, “If there is ice, it is really helpful because you can cool drinks in the cooler box.”
