“100 selections of rice terraces” also damaged by typhoon Harvested rice Cannot dry due to power outage Chiba Kamogawa September 17 15:22

Rice picked as one of the “100 Best Rice Terraces in Japan” and harvested by the typhoon No. 15 at the “Oyama Senmaida” in Kamogawa City, Chiba, where the beautiful scenery spreads out in the fall. However, it is still unable to dry due to a power outage.

“Oyama Senmaida” spreading out on the slopes of the mountains in Kamogawa City is known for its beautiful scenery of terraced rice terraces that stretch like stairs, and has been selected as one of the “100 Best Rice Terraces in Japan”.

It was said that rice harvesting began before the typhoon, but the rice that could not be harvested was overthrown by strong winds, and the rice ears were damaged by water. Power outages continued due to the collapse of nearby power poles, and the rice that had already been harvested cannot be dried by the machine.

Since mold would grow in this situation, farmers were trying to dry the rice by placing blue sheets in a well-ventilated room at home.

A 58-year-old man from the farmer said, “I can't harvest or dry rice. The power outage is the worst, so I just want it to be restored soon.”
