The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has dispatched permanent staff to 12 municipalities in Fukushima Prefecture. After the accident at TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi NPS, the farmland where agriculture has been resumed so far is only one-quarter in these municipalities, so we aim to encourage the resumption of agriculture.

This was clarified by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Yoshikawa at a press conference after the cabinet meeting on the 3rd.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, in 12 municipalities around the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, such as Minamisoma City, decontamination has been completed on all farmland except for areas where it is difficult to return, but agriculture has been resumed after the earthquake disaster. Is about a quarter of the total, over 4300 hectares.

Regarding this, Minister Yoshikawa said, “There is a strong demand for human support from the perspective of lack of players in resuming agriculture. To promote regional revitalization, the reconstruction of the core agriculture, forestry and fisheries is extremely important.” From April of next year, the staff of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries was dispatched to 12 municipalities one by one to show the idea of encouraging the resumption of agriculture.

The dispatched staff will form a team with local governments and local JAs, etc., in addition to supporting the resumption of agriculture, confirming the owner's intention, and if there is a third party who wishes, it will also mediate lending of farmland And wants to lead to larger farmland and improved productivity.
