A Ukrainian drone attack set fire to a fuel depot belonging to the Russian oil company Lukoil in the western Russian city of Oryol.

"A fuel and energy complex was attacked," said the regional governor of Nizhny Novgorod on the Telegram online service on Tuesday night.

The emergency services would try to contain the fire.

"There were no casualties," the governor added.

The Russian news agency Ria Novosti, citing a representative of the emergency services, reported that a reservoir containing petroleum products had caught fire and, according to the oil company, work at the plant had been temporarily stopped due to an "incident."

Oryol is around 160 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

According to Russian information, Ukraine also carried out further drone attacks on targets in Russia on Tuesday night.

Drones dropped four explosive devices in the Russian border region of Belgorod, said the local governor.

There were no injuries, but a power line was damaged.

Since the start of the Russian offensive against Ukraine more than two years ago, the Ukrainian armed forces have managed to penetrate ever deeper into Russian territory with their drones.

Russia also uses numerous drones.
