Focus on the three major directions to carry out key technology research and development, to achieve the whole chain of independent and controllable
The Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Extreme Conditions was launched in Dongguan
Nanfang Daily News (Reporter/Chen Qiliang Correspondent/Zhang Wei) From November 11th to 19th, the kick-off meeting of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Extreme Conditions and the 20 Symposium on Extreme Experimental Conditions was held at the Spallation Neutron Source Science Center located in Songshan Lake Science City, Dongguan.
The Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Extreme Conditions is led by the Spallation Neutron Source Science Center and jointly established by Sun Yat-sen University and Dongguan Institute of Technology, and was approved in 2023. The laboratory focuses on the three directions of extreme temperature field, extreme electromagnetic field and inert gas polarization environment, and is committed to the research and development of internationally advanced related key technologies, realizing the localization of a variety of extreme conditions equipment, and helping the development of science and technology fields such as quantum, materials, life, and high-end medical devices.
"We will carry out research on technical research and expansion of applications in three directions, realize the independent and controllable whole chain, and solve key common problems. At the same time, combined with the major needs of domestic and foreign user groups and the country, the application research of extreme environments in different fields is developed. Tong Xin, a researcher at the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Extreme Conditions, said.
According to the plan, the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Extreme Conditions is planned to be completed in December 2025. At present, the laboratory has a wide range of scientific research instruments and facilities, and most of the equipment performance indicators have reached the international or domestic advanced level.
"The sample environment is one of the key conditions for neutron scattering research and experiments, but it is often not given enough attention. The sample environment under extreme conditions is an important factor restricting the experimental results. Chen Hesheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that the launch of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Extreme Conditions will further develop the extreme conditions equipment and experimental technology required for the second phase of the Spallation Neutron Source Project and the Southern Advanced Light Source Project, form a world-class material science center for extreme conditions, and contribute to improving the level of basic and applied basic research in the Greater Bay Area.
More than 60 experts and scholars from the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Science and Technology of China, Sun Yat-sen University, Zhejiang University, High Magnetic Field Science Center, Nanjing University, Southern University of Science and Technology, Fudan University, State Key Laboratory of Large Electric Drive System and Equipment Technology and other universities and research institutes gathered together to discuss cutting-edge scientific issues in the field of extreme conditions. Deploy key research directions for the construction of the Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Extreme Conditions. (Nanfang Daily)
