The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), broadcast scenes of its fighters targeting Israeli military vehicles penetrating into the northern Gaza Strip, while the occupation army announced the death of 5 officers and the injury of others in the battles.

The video clip, which was broadcast by al-Qassam on its Telegram account, shows the targeting of Israeli tanks and military vehicles in the areas of al-Tawam and Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip with "Yassin 105" shells.

The video was broadcast shortly after Abu Obeida, a spokesman for the Qassam Brigades, announced that the group's fighters had destroyed 25 Israeli military vehicles in the past 48 hours.

Abu Obeida said – in a recorded speech broadcast by Al-Jazeera – "We have documented the total or partial destruction of more than 160 Israeli military vehicles since the start of the ground aggression on the Strip" on October 27.


He added that Israeli tanks penetrating into the Gaza Strip were facing fierce resistance and fierce clashes that forced them to retreat and change the course of the incursion.

Abu Obeida said that although the confrontation between Palestinian fighters and Israeli forces is unequal, it "frightens and terrifies the most powerful force in the region".

Israel Today reported that among the dead was Maj. Gen. Yosef Haim (Yossi) Hershkovich, 44, a fighter in the 697th Battalion.

Among those who also fell in Gaza's ground battles – according to the newspaper – 4 officers with the rank of major, including 3 within the same battalion, one of whom served as a platoon commander in the Schildag unit (elite forces), and the fourth is a fighter in the "Givati" brigade, which is also part of the elite forces in the occupation army.
