For four consecutive days, old friends will meet new friends
On the morning of the 20th, President Xi Jinping met with four foreign leaders, including three from Asia and one from South America.
Sri Lankan President Wickremesinghe was the first guest that President Xi met that day. In May 2017, Wickremesinghe came to China as Prime Minister to attend the first Summit Forum.
President Xi Jinping said during the meeting that Mr. President's participation in China for the first time in six years reflects his firm support for the Belt and Road Initiative, which I highly appreciate.

Sri Lanka is an island country in the Indian Ocean and is known as the "Pearl of the Indian Ocean". President Xi Jinping cherishes the Silk Road relationship between the two countries. The "Records of the Kingdom of Buddha" written by the Eastern Jin Dynasty monk Fa Xian and the "Zheng He Stele" left over from Zheng He's ocean voyages are historical witnesses of the long-term friendship and mutual learning between the two peoples. Vietnamese President Vu Van Ren Ren was the second guest that President Xi met that day. This is Wu Wenxian's first visit to China since taking office in March this year.

In recent years, middle and higher levels have frequently exchanged visits at key time nodes. At the end of October last year, Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, visited China, becoming the first foreign leader to visit after the 10th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Vietnam, and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Trung and President Vu Van Chunh visited China successively.

The third guest that President Xi met on the same day was Thongloun, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of the People's Republic of China. Tonglun came to China this time to attend the summit forum and pay a working visit.

Since taking office in 2021, Thonglun has interacted with President Xi Jinping many times. In December of that year, the two leaders held a video meeting and jointly attended the opening ceremony of the China-Laos Railway.
In November last year, shortly after the victorious convening of the 11th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Thonglun and President of the People's Republic of China paid a state visit to China and held talks with President Xi.

Speaker Lira of the Brazilian House of Representatives, the last guest to meet with President Xi that morning, led a delegation to China from the 15th to the 22nd of this month. This visit is the first visit to China by the Speaker of the Lila House of Representatives, and the first visit to China by the President of the Brazilian Federal House of Representatives in the past 10 years.

What are the important statements of the four meetings?
In the four meetings on the 20th, a set of important statements by Chinese and foreign leaders on bilateral relations deserve attention.
The first is the "community of common destiny".
In April 2019, during the Second Summit Forum, China and Laos jointly signed the Action Plan for Building a Community of Shared Future between China and Laos, which was the first time that China and Laos signed a cooperation document on a community of shared future at the bilateral level.
During the visit, the two sides signed a new five-year action plan for building a community with a shared future between China and Laos.
China and Vietnam are socialist neighbors linked by mountains and rivers and a community of common destiny of strategic significance.
When meeting with Vietnamese President Vu Van Ren Khanh, President Xi Jinping pointed out that the two countries should not forget the original intention of traditional friendship, keep in mind the common ideal mission, work together to take the socialist road, and build a community with a shared future of strategic significance.
"Modernization" is another important expression.
China is making every effort to promote Chinese-style modernization and is making unremitting efforts to realize the modernization of all countries in the world. During the meeting that day, President Xi spoke many times about modernization.
When meeting with Brazilian House of Representatives Speaker Lira, President Xi pointed out that the "Belt and Road" initiative is highly consistent with Brazil's "reindustrialization" and the new version of the "accelerated growth plan", and can fully achieve docking to help their respective modernization processes.

Combing through the 26 bilateral meetings and meetings, there are some key messages worth paying attention to.
The first is to open a new stage of high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road".
During his talks with Chilean President Boric , President Xi Jinping said that it is necessary to cultivate new growth poles of cooperation in clean energy, digital economy, scientific and technological innovation and other fields, so that Chile will become a bridgehead for China and Latin America to jointly build the "Belt and Road" with high quality. The current Palestinian-Israeli situation has aroused worldwide attention. During the meeting with Egyptian Prime Minister Madbouli, President Xi Jinping stated China's principled position on the current Palestinian-Israeli situation, stressing that the most urgent task at present is to cease fire and stop the war as soon as possible to avoid the conflict from expanding or even getting out of control, causing a serious humanitarian crisis. During the talks, the Chinese and Russian heads of state also had an in-depth exchange of views on the Palestinian-Israeli situation.

New Development Bank President Rousseff said that under the current international situation, all countries in the world need to take joint actions to cope with common challenges. During his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, President Xi stressed that developing China-Russia relations featuring permanent good-neighborliness, comprehensive strategic coordination, and mutually beneficial cooperation and win-win cooperation is not an expedient measure, but a long-term solution. During the meeting with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy, the two sides announced the upgrading of the existing partnership to an all-weather strategic partnership.

At the opening ceremony of this year's summit, President Xi Jinping put forward for the first time a grand vision of working together to realize world modernization. Working together to realize modernization is also the focus of meetings between Chinese and foreign leaders.
During the meeting with Prime Minister Marape of Papua New Guinea and Vice President Shetima of Nigeria, President Xi stressed that China is willing to share the development opportunities brought by China's modernization and help each other achieve industrialization and agricultural modernization.
