The fires that are active in Galicia have devastated more than 230 hectares of forest in the Lugo region of A Mariña, between the municipalities of Trabada, Ribadeo and Foz, while in the province of Ourense, the fires of Lobeira and Vilariño de Conso have burned over 240 hectares.

According to the information provided this Friday by the Ministry of Rural Affairs, the Trabada fire, which also affects Ribadeo and in which level 2 alert had to be decreed, has burned 160 hectares and has forced to cut the Cantabrian highway -A-8- between kilometers 508 and 524.

Five technicians, fourteen agents, twenty-five brigades, twenty-three motor pumps and 3 excavators, among other land means, are working on its extinction, in addition to six airplanes and three helicopters.

In Foz, in the parishes of Santo Acisclo and Santa Cilla, four forest fires, very close to each other, have burned about 70 hectares. 5 agents, 6 brigades, 9 motor pumps and a bulldozer are working to suffocate him.

In Chantada, in Requeixo, another active fire has burned 80 hectares. Two technicians, six agents, 14 brigades, 7 motor pumps and 2 excavators work in its extinction.

In Ourense, in the municipality of Lobeira, another fire has burned 80 hectares in Parada. This fire affects the Natural Park of Baixa Limia-Serra do Xurés. In that same province, in Vilariño de Conso, in Chaguazoso, the fire has devoured 160 hectares.

The mayor of Trabada (Lugo), Mayra García, described as "terrible" the situation caused by the forest fire near houses in this municipality due to wind conditions, the arrival of night and a fire that she sees "uncontrolled", despite the presence of means to try to put it out.

In statements to Europa Press, the councilor points out that in the three population centers to which the flames are approaching according to the Xunta "people live" who "for the moment" have not been evicted.

"There is a lot of wind" on a day in which the thermometers have again marked high temperatures for the time of year and in a context of low rainfall, so the outlook is "terrible", according to the mayor. This Friday it is expected that an Atlantic front will enter the Peninsula through the community and leave rains throughout the Galician territory.
