At the beginning of October last year, the new section was inaugurated, doubling the prison in Haparanda to 56 beds.
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has since asked the prison and if they can grow again – and the answer is yes.
"Of course it is a challenge, but I choose to see opportunities in expanding and getting a good business for another 80 clients," says Prison and Probation Director Mårten Andersson.
Then a decision is made
A decision on the future of the prison is expected to be made in October.
