It was on July 30 last year that a 38-year-old woman was killed and her 42-year-old boyfriend was seriously injured, when they were hit by a car on Långströmsgatan on Hisingen in Gothenburg. In the car were the woman's two sons, then 17 and 22 years old.

In May, the Gothenburg District Court sentenced the older son for murder and attempted murder to life imprisonment, for hitting and killing his mother and trying to kill the man she had a relationship with.

The younger son was also charged with murder and attempted murder, but was acquitted by the district court.

Honour motives central issue

The prosecutor appealed this and the prosecutor also requests that two more relatives be convicted of protecting the criminal, which they were acquitted of in the district court.

A central question has been whether there was an honour motive, which the prosecutor has put forward, but this was not supported by the district court.
