Qufu, Shandong, September 9 (Zhongxin Net) -- "Discussing how Confucianism promotes the development of modernization in East Asia is the original intention of setting the theme of this forum. On the 26th, at the Nishan World Confucian Summit Forum held at the foot of Qufu Nishan Mountain, Shandong, Wang Xuedian, member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, executive director of the Institute for Advanced Study of Confucianism of Shandong University, and deputy director of the Academic Committee of the Nishan World Civilization Forum, said.

The above-mentioned forum is one of the important sub-forums of the 10th Nishan World Civilization Forum, aiming to highlight the characteristics of Confucianism, enrich the academic background, and promote exchanges and mutual learning among world civilizations. Focusing on the theme of the forum, experts and scholars from more than <> countries and regions, including China, the United States, South Korea, and Malaysia, analyzed the role of Confucianism in promoting the modernization of East Asia from different perspectives.

Since the 20th century, why has East Asia been able to lead the world's modernization development as a "locomotive"? Wang Xuedian believes that there are three main reasons: attaching importance to education, obligation, and respecting authority. He said that under the influence of Confucianism, East Asia attaches great importance to education and provides indispensable human capital for modernization; The idea of obligation-based gives people the characteristics of hard work and sacrifice. In addition, turbulence and turmoil rarely occur in East Asia, because of the influence of order, hierarchy, authority and other concepts, which seems to be a "concession" of individual rights, but it is particularly important for the development of the community.

In his speech "Confucian Culture and the Response to Current Global Challenges", An Le Zhe, Chair Professor of Humanities at Peking University's Department of Philosophy, argued that the Confucian concept of "harmony but difference" is an inclusive pluralism that is included in the core values of relational fairness and aims to achieve diversity, and can replace fragmented relativism. In terms of socio-political order, the Confucian view of politics is an isomorphism of the family, the state, and the world, where the state and the world are the mimes of the family. Confucian role ethics takes a series of terms around "filial piety" as its primary moral requirement.

Family feelings are not only a minimally moral explanation, but also the root and essence of a living Confucian social, political, and global order. According to An, Confucian philosophy promotes this family system, in which activities are rooted in the family and extend from this resilient core outward to social, political, and other aspects. "As a deliberate strategy, this system is designed to maximize creativity and possibility in all human activities."

Lee Yun-wha, a tenured professor at Andong National University in Korea, believes that the proposition of "Thu Nhon under heaven" can become the basis for important thinking on reflecting on hegemonism and establishing a universal, compatible and symbiotic world system. Confucianism has played an important role in history, and it should also play its unique modern value today to inject strong ideological impetus into the modernization of East Asia and the response to global challenges.

Tang Zhouyan, member of the leading party group of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairman of the Provincial Federation of Social Sciences, pointed out in his speech at the opening ceremony that the fertile soil of Confucian culture has nurtured and influenced the formation and development of Chinese-style modernization, and with the development and growth of the Confucian cultural circle in East Asia, Confucianism is profoundly affecting the development process of East Asian modernization, and the development of East Asian modernization practice also provides a broader stage for the creative transformation and innovative development of Confucian culture. He suggested that we should expand our research horizons and dig deeper into the contemporary value of Confucian culture; Carry out extensive international cooperation and continue to optimize the academic ecology of the Confucian cultural circle; Tell the "story of East Asian modernization" and contribute "Confucian wisdom".
