SVT News Stockholm is currently investigating how LSS works in Österåker municipality. In our review, we have followed 28-year-old Tim who, without warning, had his LSS withdrawn even though his needs are as great today as when he was granted LSS.
In Tim's case, his mother has taken a large part of the fight against the municipality and we have been able to see through recordings and documents how it has led to conflicts. According to Mats Jansson, expert expert on Autism Sweden, the LSS processes are legally uncertain because it often involves a few administrators in a municipality – administrators with whom you do not want to end up in conflict.
"This is also personal. If a few people quit or start in a municipality, this can change quite quickly," he says.
SVT can now reveal that Österåker municipality has been reported to Ivo about 40 times in recent years in cases involving LSS. And in almost all of the cases, the complaints are about the treatment of officials.
