"The CEC of Moldova rejected the application of opposition MP Marina Tauber, who appealed against the refusal of the Balti District Electoral Commission to register her as an independent candidate for mayor of the city," the statement said.
During the meeting, members of the CEC forbade Tauber to speak, and at her request to argue this ban with an excerpt from the law, they ordered to turn off Tauber's microphone, the agency writes.
Earlier, the Constitutional Court of Moldova upheld a ban on members of the opposition Shor party from running for elected office.
On September 18, the European Court of Human Rights registered a lawsuit in the case of the Shor Party against the Moldovan authorities. The court is asked to urgently consider the case of banning and forcibly dissolving the party and denying its former members the right to run and be elected.
