Yangling, Shaanxi, 9 Sep (Zhongxin Net) -- A meeting on agricultural cooperation and exchange between China and the Horn of Africa countries was held in Yangling, Shaanxi Province on 20 September.

At the meeting, the envoys of Somalia and other Horn of Africa countries to China had in-depth exchanges with representatives of the first batch of China-Africa Joint Centers for Modern Agricultural Technology Exchange and Training, and representatives of experts, enterprises and international students on China-Africa agricultural cooperation on the status, needs and next direction of China-Africa agricultural cooperation. They also exchanged views and shared experiences on how China and the Horn of Africa countries can promote food security, achieve sustainable agricultural growth and rural development, and build an innovative, dynamic, interconnected and inclusive agricultural economy.

It is reported that relying on rich agricultural science and education resources, Yangling has successively sent more than 20 experts to Ethiopia, Eritrea and other African countries to carry out technical exchanges and provide guidance for local crop breeding and cultivation technology. Over the years, more than 40 seminars have been held for African countries, including soil and water conservation, water-saving irrigation, regulation of agricultural production environment in arid areas, facility agriculture and other topics, and more than 2000,120 trainees from more than <> African countries have participated in the training. Northwest A&F University has trained more than <> African students, masters and doctoral students.
The holding of this event will further promote the construction of Yangling China-Africa Modern Agricultural Technology Exchange Demonstration and Training Joint Center, deepen exchanges and strengthen cooperation with countries in the Horn of Africa in the field of modern agriculture, jointly promote modern agricultural construction, agricultural product trade and agricultural production capacity cooperation, and continuously achieve new and greater results in China-Africa agricultural exchanges and cooperation.
