The dialogue was hosted by CIPG and the Organizing Committee of the Nanjing Peace Forum, and organized by the CEEBE Communication Center (People's Pictorial) and the Information Office of Nanjing Municipal Government, with the theme of "Peace, Inclusiveness and Sustainable Development". The dialogue aims to promote mutual exchanges among media, think tanks and young people in the countries of the "Belt and Road", provide suggestions for the high-quality development of the "Belt and Road", and expand new ideas, new paths and new fields for the "Belt and Road" exchange and cooperation.

Yu Tao, Deputy Director of CIPG, Peng Zhengang, Executive Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee, Qiao Wei, Chairman of the China Overseas Chinese Public Welfare Foundation and former Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Wang Xiaohui, Editor-in-Chief of the China Internet News Center (China.com), and Ou Xiaoli, former Director of the Department of Social Affairs of the National Development and Reform Commission, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

More than 100 people, including representatives of mainstream media, think tank experts and youth representatives from China and the "Belt and Road" countries, conducted extensive and in-depth discussions on the theme of the dialogue.

In his opening speech, Yu Tao said that it is necessary to reach a consensus based on equality and mutual consultation, establish a mechanism to promote exchanges, promote cooperation with shared responsibility, build a platform for people-to-people exchanges and civilization integration for the joint construction of the "Belt and Road", and promote common development in openness and integration; With people-to-people exchanges as the link, we should continue to cooperate and exchange in education, science and technology, culture, sports, tourism, health and many other fields, so as to further realize the convergence of values and emotional resonance among the peoples of all countries; It is necessary to actively contribute wisdom to the joint construction of the "Belt and Road", promote the progress of human civilization through mutual learning and exchanges among civilizations, and condense the consensus of all countries to build a better world as widely as possible.

Qiao Wei said that in promoting the construction of the "Belt and Road", overseas Chinese play an irreplaceable and important role. He suggested that the unique force of overseas Chinese and overseas Chinese should be mobilized and guided to participate in the construction of the "Belt and Road" and create a bright future of mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation between China and the "Belt and Road" countries.

In his speech, Grzegořz Kołodko, former Deputy Prime Minister of Poland and professor of economics at Kozminski University in Poland, pointed out that the Belt and Road Initiative can build on existing infrastructure by enhancing "soft elements" such as investing in human capital, promoting joint research and development projects, promoting cooperation between universities and scientific institutions, promoting cultural exchanges, and supporting translation work, in order to enhance mutual understanding and exchange of cultures, values and knowledge between different countries, and bring these countries closer together. This will contribute to the continued development of globalization.

Peng Zhengang said that in the Ming Dynasty, Zheng He built treasure ships in Nanjing, carried out a peaceful journey of economy, trade and culture in the Western Ocean, and wrote a colorful chapter of the Maritime Silk Road. Today, Nanjing continues to strengthen people-to-people, economic and trade exchanges with countries and regions along the "Belt and Road" to promote people-to-people bonds. In the future, Nanjing will further expand international people-to-people cooperation and exchanges, encourage young people from all over the world, especially Generation Z, to participate, so as to make the "Belt and Road" more resilient.

At the dialogue, the "Belt and Road" International Communication Research Institute of CIPG and the research group of Peking University jointly released the "High-quality Joint Construction of the "Belt and Road" Development Momentum Awareness Report". Li Shaoxian, dean of the Institute of Chinese Arab Studies at Ningxia University, released the report.

This dialogue is part of a series of events at the 2023 Nanjing Peace Forum. With the theme of "Jointly Promoting Peaceful Development and Sharing the Fruits of Civilization – Youth in Action", the 2023 Nanjing Peace Forum contributed wisdom to safeguarding world peace and promoting common development.
