This statement was made by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in an interview with the newspaper Corriere della Sera.
"We are experiencing an emergency situation due to a significant influx of migrants from countries such as Syria, Afghanistan, and other eastern states. Plus, we currently have more than 1 million refugees from Ukraine," he explained.
The head of state added that today Germany, like Italy, is on the verge of its ability to receive migrants. According to him, it is necessary to evenly distribute those arriving in Europe.
Earlier it was reported that on the Italian island of Lampedusa declared a state of emergency due to the influx of migrants.
