The Regionalist Party of Cantabria will not attend the general elections of 23-J because of the "enormous risk" of not leaving before the "fierce polarization" that it foresees will occur in the next elections.

This was announced on Thursday by the secretary general of the PRC, Miguel Ángel Revilla, at the end of the Executive Committee of the formation met to address the negotiations it has with the PP to guarantee the governability of Cantabria and the concurrence of the party to the generals.

This last decision has been endorsed by almost all those attending the committee, with 55 votes in favor and five against, given the "enormous risks of presenting themselves and not having any possibility of leaving", to which it is added that the party would have to "ask for a loan" to face the cost of the campaign.

"The risk is reasonably high of not leaving and the economic cost is important," said Revilla, who also believes that if the PRC obtained a deputy – now it has one, José María Mazón – its "effectiveness would be diminished" because the regionalists no longer govern in Cantabria "and we do not have pacts to claim."
