• Courts condemn eight 'casuals' who fought with Mossos during a trial in the Audiencia de Barcelona

The Mossos d'Esquadra are carrying out from early in the morning an operation to dismantle the Casuals, a radical and violent group of FC Barcelona fans in which dozens of arrests are expected for various crimes, such as homicide and illegal detention.

From 6.20 am entries and searches are being made in various locations in the province of Barcelona, mainly in the metropolitan area, and in some town of Girona, according to Efe sources of the Police of the Generalitat.

The operation is led by a court in Barcelona, which for the moment maintains the secrecy of the summary, which has ordered the arrests of members of the radical group for various crimes.

These offences include homicide, illegal detention, extortion, public disorder, illegal possession of weapons, against public health, membership of a criminal organization and related unlawful acts.

The operation is the result of an investigation by a joint Mossos team made up of agents from the Central Unit of Violent Extremism of the General Information Commissariat (CGINF) and the Central Unit of Kidnappings and Extortion of the General Commissioner of Criminal Investigation (CGIC).
