Zero tolerance " for sexual abuse, MINUSCA said in its statement.

According to the UN force, the Office of Internal Oversight Services has collected evidence against 11 Tanzanian military personnel deployed on a temporary base in western CAR. Four alleged victims were identified, questioned and cared for.

This evidence also indicates a failure in command and control by commanders over their personnel. " writes MINUSCA.

The entire unit, 60 men in total, was relocated and confined to its barracks. She will be sent back to the country once the investigation is complete.

According to the statement, the Tanzanian authorities "noted the seriousness of the allegations and committed to take the necessary measures." For the time being, the rest of the Tanzanian contingent continues its missions.

MINUSCA declined to give further details on the case.

In the past, she had been criticized for her slow response to allegations of sexual abuse by peacekeepers.

The Gabonese contingent had been charged from 2015, but was not dismissed until September 2021.
