In the wake of the brutal stabbing attack of six people, including four very young children, by a Syrian refugee, the president of the National Rally group in the National Assembly Marine Le Pen was the guest of Europe Matin on Friday.

A Syrian refugee armed with a knife wounded six people, including four very young children in a park in Annecy on Thursday morning, an attack "with no apparent terrorist motive". An "appalling" attack commented the president of the National Rally group in the National Assembly Marine Le Pen in the aftermath of the tragedy, at the microphone of Europe 1. "This is the ultimate barbarism in our civilization. Attacking babies, stabbing them in their strollers. This is unimaginable for the entire French population. A number of questions are being asked now," the former presidential candidate continued.

The assailant is a Syrian asylum seeker, who arrived on French territory last autumn on a regular basis. This will revive the debate on European law and asylum procedures. "It is obvious that there have been failures. This individual should have been dubbed as soon as he applied for asylum in France. He should have been fast-tracked, in 15 days, [we should have] found that he already had the right to asylum in another EU country and sent him back to that country. That was not the case," Le Pen said.
