It was on February 27 this year that the 57-year-old arrived at the police station in Norrköping armed with a knife and firebombs. Outside the reception area, he attacked a plainclothes policeman and was then shot in the leg by intervening police officers.
Illegitimate trial
When the trial was held today, several police officers testified about how they were fighting for their lives when the man attacked with a knife.
Prosecutor Lisa Hedberg presented a large amount of material including films from the attack and said that the 57-year-old should be convicted of attempted murder and aggravated blue light sabotage. According to the prosecutor, the punishment for the crimes corresponds to a prison sentence of 14 years in prison.
The man's lawyer Per Oehme chose not to give a closing statement given his client's view that the entire investigation and trial against him is illegitimate.
Good evidence
In the afternoon, the district court made the decision that there had been good evidence for what the prosecutor claims. The 57-year-old will undergo a major forensic psychiatric examination with a special discharge review. He will remain in custody until sentencing. The hearing will resume on July 7.
