Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said on Thursday that the Israeli army's bombing of the walls of a prisoner's house in the city of Ramallah comes as part of a reoccupation of the entire West Bank.

Hours after blowing up its walls, Shtayyeh inspected the house in the Old City of Ramallah, which is in Area A according to the Oslo Accords between the PLO and Israel.

Shtayyeh said that what is happening is a complete reoccupation of the West Bank, whether it is in Area A, B or C, "and it is quite clear that this (right-wing) Israeli government flouts any Palestinian sovereignty."

He said the title of this Israeli government is not only the demolition of citizens' homes, but also the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which "means moving from secular Zionism to religious Zionism."

Shtayyeh vowed that the Palestinians would do everything possible to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque and build every house demolished by the occupation, and that "we will deal responsibly with the needs of families whose homes are demolished."

The Palestinian prime minister described the bombing of the house of prisoner Islam al-Farroukh as a heinous crime, which turned a family overnight into a homeless family after the demolition of its home.

Earlier on Thursday, an engineering unit of the occupation army blew up the walls of Al-Farroukh's house on the second floor of a 4-storey residential building.

Injuries and arrests

Clashes erupted today between dozens of Palestinians and the Israeli army, in which the latter used live bullets and metal bullets, while protesters threw stones at the forces.

Medical sources said that 16 Palestinians were injured during the clashes, while dozens were suffocated, including two journalists, one of whom was hit by a metal bullet in the head and is in serious condition.

On Thursday, the Israeli army arrested 25 Palestinians, including 14 from the town of Beita in the northern West Bank governorate of Nablus.

The Israeli army usually bombs and demolishes the homes of Palestinians accused of carrying out operations against the occupation.

Last December, the occupation army arrested Islam Al-Farroukh on charges of carrying out a double bombing at the bus station in the occupied city of Jerusalem on November 23, killing two Israelis and wounding dozens.

Operation Farroukh followed a series of attacks by the Israeli army in the northern West Bank, during which a number of Palestinians were killed.
