In the past two weeks since I took up my duties, I have been non-stop, having extensive contacts with people from all walks of life in the United States, and I have heard the most concern that China and the United States are falling into conflict and confrontation, and the biggest wish is that Sino-US relations will stop falling and stabilize. If the world is to get better, Sino-US relations cannot go any worse.
Xie Feng said that President Xi Jinping pointed out that Sino-US relations are not a choice question of whether to do a good job, but a mandatory question of how to do it well. The earth is big enough to accommodate the separate and common development of China and the United States. President Xi Jinping put forward the three principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, pointing out the root cause of the correct coexistence between China and the United States in the new era. Mutual respect is the premise, peaceful coexistence is the bottom line, and win-win cooperation is the goal. China attaches importance to China-US relations as always, and is willing to work with the US side to grasp the right direction, promote dialogue and cooperation, dismantle dangerous flashpoints, implement the important consensus reached at the Bali meeting of the two heads of state with practical actions, and strive for China-US relations to return to the right track at an early date.
Xie Feng said that the US side should respect the development path, political system and development rights chosen by the Chinese people, respect China's core interests and major concerns, and ensure that China-US relations move forward along the right course and do not conflict, confrontation or fight a new cold war. The most urgent task at the moment is to effectively manage the Taiwan issue, which is the biggest risk point. No one hopes more than China for a peaceful settlement of the Taiwan issue, and even less willing to see war and chaos in the Taiwan Strait, and it is not China that is engaged in wargames, it is not China that changes the status quo, and it is not China that creates a crisis. The Taiwan authorities' "relying on the United States to seek independence" and some people in the United States clamor for "using Taiwan to contain China" are the biggest threats to peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
