Beyond fame and wealth, the acting profession often negatively affects the psychological, mental and physical health of celebrities, which each star deals with in his own way.

The last to fall into this heavy trap was actor Tom Holland, who decided to take a leave of absence from acting for a whole year, hoping to succeed in restoring his psychological stability again.

The role that destroyed its owner

"This role broke me", with this phrase actor Tom Holland described his role in his latest series "The Crowded Room", and admitted – in an interview with "Extra TV" – that he spent during filming difficult times because of the nature of the role, as he embodies the character of Danny Sullivan, who is accused of committing a horrific crime in the summer of 1979, before he was arrested, and then begins a series of investigations and interviews amid investigators' attempts to unravel the mystery of the painful incident.

Holland not only starred in the series, but also had a new experience in the field of production as the executive producer of the work, which doubled his responsibilities and made him face many challenges daily, and thus increased the volume of pressure on him, but at the same time expanded his perceptions of feelings and details that he had not experienced before.

In the face of all these problems and the inner sense of heaviness and wreckage, he had to take even a short break, but moving to Mexico for a week and keeping Holland undercover trying to see friends and family and enjoy nature, was not enough for him to catch his breath and return to work rules safely.

Hence, the decision to take a year off in order to have enough time to recover and return to work. Holland made his decision after receiving support from friends, family, psychiatrist and support groups, especially since those groups had earlier been credited with making the decision to stop drinking alcohol, and opening his eyes to the need to prioritize his mental health.

Prior accusations haunt the series

"The Crowded Room" is a 10-episode short drama written by Akiva Goldsman and stars Amanda Seyfried, Amy Rossum, Sasha Lane, Will Chase and Lily Robbins.

The series is a biographical and crime series based on Daniel Keys' 1981 novel The Minds of Billy Milligan.

The show begins tomorrow, Friday, via the platform "Apple Plus" (Apple+), amid Hollande's wishes that the series in general and its role in particular will be well received by critics and the public, but the actor said that critics have already made several prior accusations of the series, noting that the production does not live up to expectations, which hurt him.

The fourth part of the series "Spider-Man" stopped

Despite Holland's many important roles so far, his most famous and important role of his career remains his portrayal of Spider-Man in the superhero series of the same name.

With all the success of the third installment of the series, called "Spider-Man: No Way Home", with revenues of nearly two billion dollars and becoming the highest-grossing film in 2021, the audience is waiting for any news about the start of preparations for the fourth part.

When asked about this during an interview with Variety, Holland confirmed that he attended a number of meetings in this regard, but the project was quickly stalled and stopped due to solidarity with writers and the strike of the American Writers Guild that began last May, due to demands for higher wages in addition to a share of profits, and most importantly: the ban on the use of artificial intelligence in everything related to the field of writing.
