It has been almost ten years since the Kalac family came to Sweden from Serbia and SVT Nyheter Väst has previously reported on the family's life here and on their struggle to stay. They live in Lidköping since a few years back. Previously, they lived in Gothenburg and Grästorp.

Initially, there were six people, four children and two parents in the family, now only four are left alive. SVT Nyheter Väst has previously met the family. Already in 2014, the authorities wanted them to leave the country, but the family did not heed and now, almost ten years later, the sisters who grew up in Sweden are fighting to stay.

– We are a well-behaved family and we have permanent jobs, because we have been here for so many years we have become part of the community, says Ilda Kalac.

Father and sister dead

The children's father died of cancer early after they arrived in Sweden and the sister disappeared just over a year ago and was found dead a few weeks later.

– We lost our big sister in a tragic way and we have not had time to mourn her considering all the work with residence permits and the border police, says Ilda Kalac.

The Swedish Migration Agency cannot answer how many, like the Kalac family, have been in Sweden despite deportation decisions. And you don't see that the death of the father and sister would be grounds to overturn the decision.

Watch in the clip the day when they get the final message from the border police.
