"Pressure on the Russian language and Russian culture is futile. Russian culture is self-sufficient, in addition, it has long been an integral part of world culture. Therefore, any attempts to abolish it, from my point of view, will not have any serious success. You can try to cancel the rain, the sun, the moon, but it's pointless," Shvydkoy told reporters in Beijing. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

At the same time, according to him, one of the most important tasks is to preserve the Russian language within the framework of international organizations as one of the world languages.

Earlier, Natalia Trukhanovskaya, rector of the Pushkin State Institute of the Russian Language, said that the Russian language retained fifth place among world languages in the global competitiveness index and second in the number of scientific publications in the language in 2022.

Russian Language Day is celebrated annually on June 6, the birthday of Alexander Pushkin.
