Hong Kong, 6 Jun (ZXS) -- When meeting with the media before attending the Executive Council on 6 June, Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive Lee Ka-chiu said that the SAR Government must condemn these shameless acts and pursue legal responsibility for the false impression that some people have made false statements and created the illusion that a large number of people have withdrawn from Hong Kong's "Central Organ Donation Registration Program" for the purpose of sabotage.

It is reported that the Hong Kong police arrested 5 men on suspicion of dishonest access to computers, suspected of using other people's information online, including the personal information of people who had been "bottomed out", and dishonestly canceling their organ donation registration.

Data show that since its establishment in 2008, the number of registered persons in Hong Kong has continued to increase, increasing by about 14 times in 7 years, from about 2009,4 in 5 to more than 35,7 now.

Mr Lee said that this reflects the noble act and spirit of the public in supporting organ donation to save lives. The HKSAR Government's promotion of organ donation is to save lives, and organ donation is decided voluntarily by the public or cancelled if desired.

However, he pointed out that in recent days, a large number of abnormal cases have appeared, involving more than 3000,<> cases that have never been registered or repeatedly cancelled, involving a few shameless people who dishonestly created the illusion of a large number of cancellations and sabotaged the organ donation rescue plan.

"Although I believe that these black sheep belong to a very small minority of society, society should be strict and denounce them." Li Jiachao said.

Mr Lee said the HKSAR Government and the Mainland continue to explore the establishment of a permanent organ transplant mutual aid mechanism, under which organs donated in Hong Kong must first be distributed to patients in need in Hong Kong. Only when Hong Kong cannot find suitable patients for organ transplantation, and do not want the rare organs to be discarded and wasted, will the mechanism be activated to provide patients with suitable organs transplantation in the Mainland.

Mr Lee said that the HKSAR Government would continue to promote organ donation to help patients, and promote more public education and publicity in a multi-pronged manner, so as to give more patients waiting for organs a chance to be reborn. (End)
