The Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday that the Pacific Fleet has begun exercises in the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk, with the participation of more than 60 warships and support ships.

She pointed out that these exercises come "in accordance with the training plan for the military command and control bodies of the Pacific Fleet forces for the year 2023" and the exercises will continue until June 20.

About 35 navy and coastal troops, and more than 11,<> military personnel, will also take part in the exercises, the Russian ministry said.

The Russian Navy has deployed the fleet forces in the designated areas and have begun to carry out some practical tasks within the framework of field training in the offshore maritime zone.

Meanwhile, naval tactical groups, with the participation of naval aviation, will search for and then pursue presumed enemy submarines, as well as carry out combat exercises against surface and air targets, including rocket and artillery shell fire.

Training will also be given to counter supposedly hostile aircraft from the air defence vehicles on the ships participating in the exercises, as well as logistical exercises at sea.
