Beijing, 6 Jun (ZXS) -- In the face of the current complicated and severe situation in the Taiwan Strait, personages from all walks of life on both sides of the strait pointed out at a seminar on 5 June that to truly seek peace in the Taiwan Strait, it is necessary to adhere to the "consensus of '5," safeguard the foundation for the stable development of cross-strait relations, and choose the correct path of peaceful development.

In the afternoon of the same day, the Research Center for Cross-Strait Relations and the Taiwan Qingliu Cultural and Educational Association held a seminar on "Prospects and Reflections on Cross-Strait Relations" in Beijing. The New Party delegation, guests from relevant departments on both sides of the strait, experts, and scholars attended the meeting.

"Peace is the most fashionable slogan of the moment, proving that everyone desires peace." Wu Chengdian, chairman of the New Party, said: But everyone should distinguish between true and false peace. How does advocating "Taiwan independence" bring peace? If you are unwilling to recognize the "consensus of '92," how can we create opportunities for peace? If you are unwilling to face peaceful reunification and discuss peaceful reunification, how can we carry out the road to peace? If we do not accept the one-China principle and do not face reunification, peace is a castle in the air.

Yang Mingjie, director of the Institute of Taiwan Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, pointed out that certain external forces are trying to use the Taiwan issue to interfere with China's development, consume China's strategic resources, obstruct the peaceful reunification of the two sides of the strait, and even vainly try to turn Taiwan into a new flashpoint for war and burn the flames of war to the Taiwan Strait. The DPP authorities, out of narrow political party interests and their stubborn "Taiwan independence" stance, are attempting to fully bind the United States and the West, gain so-called "political benefits," and intimidate the people on the island. In the face of the positive trend of cross-strait people-to-people exchanges and economic integration, the DPP authorities have constantly created obstacles in an attempt to lock the people and hearts of the people on the island in a cage; Moreover, it evaded the political basis and premise for the development of cross-strait relations, played tricks and changed tactics, and sold the so-called "peace scam."

At the same time, he also observed that out of concern about the situation in the Taiwan Strait, the public opinion on the island has strengthened its tendency to "reject war and doubt the United States"; Influenced by the mainland's initiative to promote the integrated development of the two sides of the strait and safeguard the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, the voice of peace, development, exchanges and cooperation has continued to rise, and cross-strait non-governmental exchanges have reappeared in a warm current.

Li Zhenghong, president of the All-China Federation of Taiwan Enterprises, said that Taiwan wants peace, not war. Cross-strait relations are Chinese their own affair and should be decided by the Chinese on both sides of the strait. People of insight should resolutely stand up, unite as one, and jointly pursue the bright prospects for the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.

"Taking the road of peace and prosperity in cross-strait relations is the common aspiration of compatriots on both sides of the strait. On the island of Taiwan today, such a desire is even stronger and has become the mainstream public opinion in Taiwan society. Yang Yizhou, vice president of the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, said: Deepening the peaceful development of cross-strait relations is in the best interests of the Chinese nation and the interests of Taiwan compatriots. The political forces on the island also had to shout "peace" and avoid "confrontation" in response to the concerns of the Taiwan people.

He stressed that in order to put cross-strait relations on the road of peace and prosperity, two "iron laws" must be observed: first, always adhere to the one-China principle and the "consensus of '92," and second, always adhere to opposing "Taiwan independence" separatism and interference by external forces; At the same time, it is necessary to deepen the integration and development of the two sides of the strait, eliminate the long-term antagonism and confrontation between the two sides of the strait, eliminate the soil for "Taiwan independence" separatism, lay the foundation for compatriots on both sides of the strait to form a common Chinese national identity, and achieve the spiritual fit of compatriots on both sides of the strait.
