This Sunday afternoon, about 5,000 people are expected to go to the Champs-Élysées to participate in the largest dictation ever organized. A moment of conviviality in perspective even if, on the side of the participants, the dictations of the school did not necessarily leave good memories.

It's a strange world record that the France may beat this Sunday. That of the largest dictation ever organized. About 5,000 people are expected on the Champs-Élysées, transformed for the occasion into a real open-air classroom.

Imagine long rows of desks and a giant screen mimicking a classroom board. This is what the participants in this giant dictation on the most famous avenue in the world discovered. Three different dictations are organized, the first on the theme of childhood. It is the journalist and literary critic Augustin Trapenard who will read it.

"An exercise that becomes a game"

"I really associate dictation with a French exercise and French heritage. What I find wonderful is that this well-known exercise becomes a game," explains Augustin Trapenard at the microphone of Europe 1. "The idea is to surpass oneself, to surpass oneself, but above all to have a good time and share the beauty of great texts. After, to be honest with you, I was never an ace in spelling when I was little, "smiled the journalist.

Because dictation can leave traces. Some actually have very good memories, often those that had good results. But this is clearly not a generality. "I have good memories because I was good. It was even a pretty good time," says one young woman. "It was more of a source of anxiety. But afterwards, I find that it is a very interesting exercise to carry out for students and you still have to have basics in spelling and know how to write. It's important for life," concedes another.

So, if not everyone seems to want to participate in this giant dictation and immerse themselves in the memories of school, all believe that it is very important to know how to write well, especially in the professional environment.
