Since most new cars have been registered in the big cities, this is also where most new electric cars end up. Dorotea is the second smallest municipality in the country.

"Only seven new cars were bought there last year. Even though it is a small municipality, there were distinctly few cars, and then the possibility of acquiring an electric car becomes quite small, says Mikael Levin, investigator at Transport Analysis.

"Only been around for a year"

Access to charging points is usually highlighted as a prerequisite for increasing the share of electric cars. In Dorotea there is plenty of opportunity to charge – but still no electric cars.

"However, the chargers have only been around for a year or so. If you think about buying a new car in the future, you haven't really had a very long time to react even though the charging infrastructure is there," says Mikael Levin.

Today, many Dorothea residents drive large four-wheel drive fossil cars - but how it will be in the future Mikael Levin predicts in the clip.
