Already early after the major police operation in Sundsvall at the end of January this year – where weapons, explosives and drugs were seized and about 15 people were arrested – information came about a connection between that case and the shooting in the residential area Bosvedjan in Sundsvall a couple of months earlier.

The latter incident, in which three people were shot and one of them was injured, was said by police sources to SVT to have been the starting point for the wave of shootings and blasts that followed, especially in the Stockholm area during the winter.

Only recently has it been announced by the prosecution that there are links between the two preliminary investigations.

Common denominators

Now Deputy Chief Prosecutor Karin Everitt confirms to SVT that the two cases will be dealt with in court during one and the same trial, which thus starts in mid-August.

The reason is that there are several common denominators in the two investigations.

Which?

"I don't want to go into that in more detail before charges are brought. But the honours are partly intertwined, says Karin Everitt, who is leading both preliminary investigations – when it comes to the investigation after the major crackdown together with prosecutor Henrik Wallin.

The current idea is that charges will be brought on July 27 in both cases.

14 detained

"In a week's time, we expect the preliminary investigations to be fully ready for final service to the suspects and their defence counsel," says Karin Everitt.

Currently, a total of 19 people are suspects in the case after the large poolis raid, of which 14 are in custody. The offences include attempted murder, aiding and abetting attempted murder, preparation for murder, preparation for public destruction, aggravated weapons offence and aggravated narcotics offence.

In the case of the Bosvedje shooting, preliminary six people will be charged. These include attempted murder and aiding and abetting attempted murder.
