Pedagogical care, so-called day mothers, has existed for many years and is an alternative to preschool. In Lomma municipality, there are currently six day mothers, five of whom are run by the municipality. These five will now be closed, according to a decision by the Children and Education Committee.
In protest, a petition was started, but it did not make the politicians change their opinion on the issue.
Municipality: Fewer people ask for day mothers
Fredrik Karström (M), chairman of the Children and Education Committee, justifies the decision with smaller baby litters, reduced demand and that the municipality needs to make savings.
But Eva-Karin Andersson believes that the situation could have been different if the day mothers had been allowed to market themselves more, as they did in the past.
