Beijing, 6 Jun (Zhongxin Net) -- Li Hui, special representative of the Chinese Government for Eurasian affairs, said in Beijing on 2 June that the Wall Street Journal's false report is not only completely untrue to the facts, but also unpopular, and is obviously provoking discord between China and Ukraine.

On June 6, the China Public Diplomacy Association held a special briefing on the "Linjia No. 2 Salon" in Beijing, at which Li Hui introduced the relevant situation of his visits to Ukraine, Poland, France, Germany, the EU headquarters and Russia, and held discussions and exchanges with Chinese and foreign journalists.

A reporter asked on the same day, during Ambassador Li Hui's visit, the Wall Street Journal reported that according to informed Western officials, China proposed a ceasefire agreement that would allow Russia to own part of the territory of Ukraine, but Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba then said that according to his contacts with all parties, no country expressed the statement mentioned in the above report.

Li Hui said he noted the Wall Street Journal report and the clarification made by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba. It is not known who the Wall Street Journal refers to by "informed Western officials", but the relevant reports are completely untrue. China adheres to an objective and fair position on the issue of the Ukraine crisis, actively persuades peace and promotes talks, and always stands on the side of peace, dialogue and history.

"It can be said that we 'walk right and sit well'. Whether in the process of communication with the Ukrainian, Russian or European sides, our position is consistent and clear. I visited five countries on this trip, and after each visit, we released news in a timely manner. Li Hui said.

Li Hui said that China's position on the Ukraine crisis has been widely understood and supported by the international community, including Russia and Ukraine. For example, during its visit to Ukraine, China had friendly and frank communication with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba. The Uzbek side thanked China for its positive role in promoting peace talks and stopping the war, and appreciated China's call for respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and compliance with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

"Foreign Minister Kuleba's own clarification shows that the Wall Street Journal's false report is not only completely untrue, but also unpopular, and is clearly provoking relations between China and Ukraine." Li Hui said.

He stressed that China is not a party to the Ukrainian issue and will not do anything to add fuel to the fire. The Ukraine issue is not an issue between China and Ukraine, between China and Russia and between China and Europe, and China is willing to continue to strengthen communication and dialogue with all parties and play a constructive role in persuading peace and promoting talks.

It is known that from May 5 to 15, Li Hui visited Ukraine, Poland, France, Germany, the headquarters of the European Union and Russia, conducted extensive contacts and exchanges with all parties on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, expounded China's positions and propositions, listened to the opinions and suggestions of all parties, and gathered more international consensus.
