The male student is charged with imprisoning and raping a woman for two days in one of the boarding rooms. According to the prosecution, he had armed himself with knives and flammable liquid. When the woman managed to raise the alarm, the police task force was called out to free her.

"What happened was terrible, it shouldn't have to happen," says principal Malin Berglund.

In the preliminary investigation, several people testify that there are drugs at the school.

"Had a lot of drugs in my room"

"I didn't want the police there because I had a lot of drugs in my room," says one person in the police interview.

"We took ecstasy and saw The Lion King 3 with Timon and Pumba," says another.

According to the accused man, he also took drugs in connection with the suspected crime.

"We have a drug policy that strives for zero tolerance. There should be no drugs here," says Malin Berglund.

Should come more notifications

SVT News has been in contact with the police in Umeå, who state that they think there should be more direct reports from Vindelns folkhögskola. This is because it is not uncommon for suspected crimes to be traced there afterwards.

– We need to talk to the police about what reports they expect, says Malin Berglund.

At present, the school conducts drug tests if suspected or if someone is worried about the health of other students. But Malin Berglund is unsure whether they should continue with this or refer the students to healthcare.

"But we have talked about increasing the presence of staff in the evenings and weekends. Not to patrol, but to hold activities and such," she says.
