Rush hour traffic in Kyiv – suddenly rocket debris falls from the sky, the dashcam footage documents the moment. Monday's footage shows the consequences of the currently almost daily Russian air strikes on the Ukrainian capital.

The 18th wave of attacks on Kyiv within a month hit a residential building and a clinic in the eastern district of Desnyanskyj on Thursday night. According to the Kiev military administration and Mayor Vitali Klitschko, at least three people were killed here, including two children – on International Children's Day. More than a dozen other people were injured and taken to nearby hospitals.

Lyudmila, local resident
"It all happened very quickly, within 15 minutes. First the sirens went off, then the air defense was heard, then clouds of smoke rose, probably coming from the explosion crater there. As far as I could tell. It was before dusk."

Authorities said the strikes came from parts of downed cruise missiles or ballistic missiles. As a rule, the main targets of Russia are weapons depots, power and water plants and government buildings. It is unclear what specific target the missiles had in their sights in this case. Once again, however, civilians were the victims. For the people in the capital, the state of emergency is becoming bitter normality.

Russia has increased the frequency of its airstrikes, in part because Ukraine is preparing for a counteroffensive
