The riot police of the IPU of the National Police will be deployed from today until next Tuesday 6 in Alcobendas before the judicial eviction of 62 squatter families who have been residing illegally for 13 years in four portals, corresponding to number 26 of Francisco Largo Caballero Street, a short distance from the exclusive urbanization of La Moraleja. The presence of 20 IPU vans plus agents from the Alcobendas police station and the Municipal Police who will accompany the judicial commission during the eviction is planned.

Some of the tenants are preparing these days the move, but others are reluctant to leave and hope to get a moratorium. They point out that the City Council of Alcobendas has offered to pay them one or two months of rent. "Here there are almost 180 children living and they do not want to do the exams now because they are traumatized, there are even some who have disabilities," said one of the residents, who admits that many of the families live only with a public aid of 480 euros. "There are some families with up to 10 children and we have nowhere to go. We are registered and the children go to schools here. It is unfair that they notify us only a week in advance and this eviction must be stopped," complained another woman yesterday morning.

The vast majority of the inhabitants of these houses are people of Moroccan origin and family clans. In several homes, according to police investigations, drugs are trafficked. In fact, in the storage rooms of one of the blocks, remains of cannabis and pots used for cultivation with fresh leaves of this plant have been discovered these days. The electricity company itself cut off the supply some time ago due to exorbitant consumption linked to the illegal cultivation of marijuana. The inhabitants, however, re-engaged clandestinely.

In the buildings everything is dirty and destroyed. Walking the stairs is very complicated, because handrails are missing and many steps are broken. The neighbors of nearby blocks assure that these buildings are a focus of insecurity and unhealthiness. The developer of these homes went bankrupt in 2009 and they were empty. It was then that his squatting began. The current owners of the building have been litigating for several years to recover the homes. This morning the gradual eviction of the houses will begin by court order with the presence of the IPU. Since last Wednesday it is forbidden to park in front of the four blocks, which today are preparing for a day of maximum tension.
