The leader of the PSE-EE, Eneko Andueza, has celebrated today that the socialist Maider Etxebarria will be the first mayor of Vitoria on June 17. Andueza has announced the agreement, in the absence of fringes, with the PNV to share the Mayor's Office of the capital of Euskadi and the presidency of the Diputación de Guipúzcoa that will occupy the nationalist Eider Mendoza. In the two institutions, EH Bildu was the most voted list but the Basque PP guarantees 'gratis et amore' the appointment of Etxebarria and Mendoza.

Eneko Andueza has confirmed the foreseeable agreement with his nationalist partners in Vitoria and Guipúzcoa and has been exultant with the appointment of Etxebarria as mayor of Vitoria. The pact that will be closed, according to Andueza, in "the next few hours", involves extending to the new legislature the framework agreement signed in 2015 and consolidated in 2019 by which both parties support their most voted candidates even if they have not won the elections. On this occasion, the Basque PP is decisive to guarantee the investiture of Etxebarria and the appointment of Mendoza but Andueza has refused in an interview on Radio Euskadi to recognize any type of "gratitude" to the formation led by Carlos Iturgaiz.

On the contrary, the leader of the PSE-EE has announced that the coalition governments between socialists and nationalists will open themselves to "specific agreements" with all parties, including EH Bildu. In addition, he has acknowledged that "it would be absurd" not to recognize the existence of what he has defined as "specific pacts" with Otegi's coalition. EH Bildu, as the leader of the Abertzale left stressed on Wednesday, has "supported" Pedro Sánchez in Congress and in Navarra facilitated the investiture of María Chivite and has guaranteed the approval of the budgets during the recently completed legislature.

Andueza has been very critical of Podemos for "throwing itself into the arms of EH Bildu" after announcing that it would not close agreements with the PNV and claiming "left-wing governments" in Euskadi. Andueza has lamented the "haste" of the coalition led by Podemos in announcing its refusal to negotiate with socialists and nationalists. It has even opened the door for them to join these minority governments if the purple coalition rectifies.
